Lily in her new dress and hairband
and tidy for five minutes. |
Well 2009 is here at last and I wish everyone the best of health and happiness for the coming year. After a bit of a rough time with Lily over the Christmas week (more steroids and antibiotics) it brings home even more to me that above all- good health is one of the best blessings we can hope for in life. Anyway, we still managed to have a lovely family Christmas and Lily is in the pink once more. Another 2 months and the warmer weather will be here and I know many people were slain by the flu this year so we are by no means among the few.
I begin the year overwhelmed by deadlines but I did deliberately put all my work down over the fortnight in order to work on some knitting which was purely for my own pleasure and creativity. The result is this cute dress and hairband for Lily. I used Debbie Bliss Rialto 4ply with a soft pink edging and pink heart buttons on the pockets (from Stockwell Ceramics). It is News Years Day today and she is wearing the whole thing. I took these pictures first thing because she never stays tidy for very long. I am very pleased with the results although I will tweak the button closure at the back of the neck when I write the pattern because I was not altogether happy with the way it looked. It was okay but could have been sharper- so that's all to fix.
I have a ginormous dinner in the oven. Roast Chicken, pigs in blankets, stuffing, veg, roast potatoes, yorkshire puds. We still haven't managed to eat the Christmas Pudding after a similar blow-out Christmas Day meal. Wonder if we'll get round to it today. Lots of Cornish Clotted Cream waiting to adorn it too!
Meanwhile, am waiting excitedly for my new garment labels to be manufactured. Am expecting them at the beginning of January so will be sure to let you have a peek when they arrive.
Anyway, to all- have a great 2009 and happy knitting!
love
Tina xxx
