Materials:
50g each of blue, cream and red DK
(For this particular cosy, I used Cornish Organic Wool DK in shades: Natural,
St Ives blue, St Agnes red)
4mm needles
2 stitch markers
tapestry needle for swiss darning
Tension: 22s x 30 rows over 4in (10cm) using 4mm needles and stocking stitch
Size: to fit a large teapot.
Finished size: 8 in high x11in wide
Back:
Using 4mm needles and red, CO 58s in red.
Work 4 rows in double rib as folls;
R1: k2, (p2,k2) rep to end of row
R2: p2, (k2,p2) rep to end of row
Change to blue and work 4 rows double rib
Change to cream and work 2 rows double rib
Beg with a knit row, change to stocking stitch and work 2 rows.
Change to blue and work 4 rows. **
Work the foll sequence 3 times;

Rep the last 8 rows once more

Shape Top as for Back.
Hook:
Cast on 4s in red.
Work 3 in in stocking stitch.
Cast off.
Making up:
Darn in loose yarn ends and press pieces lightly. Follow the chart and swiss darn the word Tea with red yarn and a tapestry needle.
Pin pieces together with RS facing. Fold hook in half and slot in between the 2 pieces at top of cosy making sure the loop is hanging to the RS of cosy. Position over your tea pot and position spout and handle holes to fit. Remove and sew seams. Turn RS out, pop on your teapot and pour! |
